Why consider a Dyslexia assessment for your child?
Early support makes a difference
Identifying dyslexia early means your child can get the right help sooner, reducing frustration and preventing issues such as low self-esteem or anxiety.
A clear picture of learning needs
An assessment highlights both challenges and strengths, showing how your child learns best. This insight helps parents, teachers, and your child work together on effective strategies.
Confidence and self-awareness
Understanding dyslexia can be a relief. It reassures children that they are not ‘lazy’ or ‘stupid’—they simply learn differently. This knowledge builds confidence and resilience.
Support for the future
An assessment report provides the evidence needed for exam arrangements and extra support at GCSE, A-level, and university, helping your child succeed at every stage.
Assessment Process
At SpLD Assessment, we make the process of getting assessed simple and stress-free.
Here’s what you can expect:
Decide if you would like an Online Assessment or an In-Person Assessment (North Wales and Cheshire).
Complete our short Enquiry Form to express your interest in getting your child assessed. This helps us understand your concerns and provide the most appropriate service.
Once the enquiry form has been completed, you will be asked to complete a Pre-Assessment Questionnaire before the assessment.
The assessment itself usually takes 2-3 hours and involves:
-
A discussion about your child's educational and personal history.
-
A series of standardised tests to assess areas like reading, spelling, phonological memory, and processing speed.
After two weeks, your report will be ready
